Lisa Parkyn

Winner of the UK Society of Women Artists 2025 President and Vice Presidents’ Award.

Lisa Parkyn is a Devon-based painter whose work draws from the sensory experience and drama of landscape, wild seascapes and untamed florals. Raised on a remote farm in Botswana’s Kalahari semi-desert, and coming from a family of painters, she developed an early connection to art before pursuing a career in graphic design in South Africa and London.

Now known for her vibrant colour, expressive mark-making and richly layered mixed media, Lisa’s practice is grounded in nature and informed by her background in graphic design, life drawing and movement psychotherapy. Working with acrylic, ink, collage, pastels and charcoal, she builds and reworks surfaces through an intuitive process of addition and subtraction, creating dynamic, rich, textural compositions.

Her work has been widely exhibited and is held in collections across the UK, Africa, Japan and Mauritius. She is a member of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts.

Alongside her studio practice, she runs art workshops that encourage process-led exploration.
